This clove essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of the eugenia caryophyllata tree, which is native to Indonesia and the Malacca islands. You may also have seen clove oil that has been extracted from the stems and buds. It is the same oil but from the leaf is slightly stronger at 91% eugenol. This is a potent oil with a warm, strong, spicy smell and needs to be used very diluted and with much care in aromatherapy.
