Buyers beware, if you have searched for blotting toothbrushes and seen the RX Sauve advertised as a blotting brush, please be advised that it is very much not the same thing at all. The bristles have not had the required texturing process that creates the effective blotting capability. Please do not purchase those as blotting brushes to use with the blotting technique as they simply will not work. The sellers of those brushes may or may not be aware of this fact when the write their descriptions on their website. We care about the health of your teeth and gums and therefor wanted to inform you of this error for your benefit.
Dr Phillips blotting brushes are the most effective toothbrushes at removing plaque for keeping your teeth and gums healthy.
The Dr Phillips blotting technique is based on a capillary-like action which lifts and holds plaque in the bristles of the brush so that it can be effectively removed. It is the same principle as when a sponge soaks up liquid or when paint is drawn up into the bristles of an artist’s brush.
The diagram below shows how a standard toothbrush is ineffective at removing plaque from crevices at the gum line.
The diagram above shows how using the Dr Phillips blotting brush in a tapping motion, at the correct angle, removes plaque from crevices at the gum line and holds it in the bristles of the brush.
The Dr Phillips blotting brush was originally developed in 1969. It has textured bristles that are thinner than in standard conventional toothbrushes. They are designed to go under the gum line and essentially floss between the teeth to draw out plaque and particles of food.
Dr Phillips lectured tirelessly around the world and dedicated his periodontal practice to the belief that patients should be taught to care for their own oral health and to promote healthy teeth for a lifetime for everyone. He wanted to spread the word that gum disease and subsequent surgery and tooth loss were unnecessary if the mouth was cared for properly.
Everyone would like to have a perfectly healthy mouth with firm gums and strong teeth that last a lifetime. Dr Phillips’ blotting brushes were invented with this in mind. Acquiring and maintaining optimal oral health is essential in avoiding expensive and unnecessary dental treatment.
By regularly using the Dr Phillips blotting technique, you can keep your teeth and gums disease and decay free for a lifetime, avoiding the misery of cavities, gingivitis, uncomfortable cleaning sessions with the dental hygienist, oral surgery and eventual tooth loss. There is a huge array of modern dental products such as toothpastes, mouthwashes and electric toothbrushes available today yet people still suffer from gum disease and cavities. For those in the know, the Dr Phillips blotting technique has been effectively used to eliminate the causes of gum disease for over 50 years. Those people who have been fortunate enough to know of, and regularly use this unique dental hygiene technique have enjoyed a lifetime of fresh breath, clean teeth and healthy gums. This technique has even been used to avoid costly and painful dental surgery for patients with severe gum disease.
Contrary to popular belief, gum disease is not something that only affects older persons. The deterioration of gum health can begin from as early as late childhood. No matter how young or old you are, the first evidence of gum disease is easy to recognise. If you notice a white or yellow build up where your teeth meet your gums or your gums bleed when you brush your teeth, you have gum disease. As the disease progresses, the bleeding may stop but the gums will recede and the teeth will begin to move apart. Eventually, the gums will no longer support the teeth. The cause of gum disease is plaque that forms along the gum-line. The gums will become irritated, inflamed and swollen and will bleed. The sensitive roots of the teeth are protected from bacteria and plaque by healthy gums which cling tightly to the tooth surface like an elastic seal. Gums are constantly under attack from plaque toxins and enzymes. If not properly cleaned this eventually leads to crevices along the gum-line as the elastic seal is loosened and the gums pull away from the teeth, leaving the sensitive roots exposed.
Removing plaque with Dr Phillips blotting brushes will eliminate the crevices where acid-forming bacteria gathers. Normal brushing with a standard toothbrush and flossing can sweep plaque deeper into the crevices in the gum-line around the teeth. The specially designed Dr Phillips blotting brush reaches into the crevices and draws the plaque out. Once these plaque deposits are removed, the gums can heal and and continue to protect the sensitive roots of the teeth.
